This means Earth has many secrets that remain hidden to mankind, just waiting to be uncovered by pioneering minds. One of Earth’s particular secrets is not on any continent, as this secret of 45,000,000 tonnes is lost under the ice. It could revolutionize multiple industries and significantly boost the economy. According to experts, this capacity has the potential to even beat China.

One of Earth’s secrets is not on a continent but lost under the ice

As old as our planet is, it did not take very long for mankind to endanger not only the planet but also itself with its activities. These activities include, but are not limited to, industrialization, deforestation, and resource consumption, which have inevitably resulted in pollution, the destruction of habitats, and climate change. Thankfully, a brave generation has stepped forward, with many pioneers working towards lessening climate change.

Nations all over the world are working towards reducing the global carbon footprint by turning to renewable energy sources. We have seen a surge in the renewable technology industry as people are recommitting themselves to clean energy. However, the components that these technologies require do not just fall from the sky, and resources are becoming rare.

Thankfully, a project has uncovered one of Earth’s secrets hidden under the ice, which could address the rare resource obstacle.

A secret of 45,000,000 tonnes to beat China

A project situated on the world’s largest island could revolutionize the entire renewable technology industry. This project has been dubbed the Tanbreez Project, named after the mining company that manages the entire project. According to the company, this project will unlock a sustainable, reliable, and long-term supply of components that are essential in a vast number of technologies (even defense systems).

The Tanbreez Project will be mining rare earth in Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, even though the island is geographically part of North America. According to Critical Metals Corp, the Tanbreez Project has a starting production capacity of 85,000 tonnes per annum and can strategically be expanded to 425,000 tonnes per annum.

According to Tanbreez, the entire project has an estimated reserve of rare earths of 45 million tonnes, which could potentially increase. This project could give China a run for its money, as the country is known to have the biggest global rare earth reserve, according to Investing News Network.

The implications of this discovery

According to Critical Metals Corp, the Tanbreez Project reportedly possesses more than 27% of heavy rare earth elements, which are much higher in value. This asset will give a significant boost to the geopolitical stance. The mining licence of the Tanbreez Project is valid until 2050, sweetening the deal even more.

“These incredible results underscore the strategic value of Tanbreez as a rare earth elements and gallium project with scale, grade, and a high proportion of critical heavy rare earths. With China’s total control over the rare earth market globally, securing sources of these critical minerals has become paramount for US defence capabilities and national security.” – Critical Metals CEO and executive chair Tony Sage

This is a revolutionary discovery, but it also comes with great responsibility. Rare earth mining can not only have significant social impacts, but also significant environmental impacts. Environmental concerns that must always be taken into consideration with rare earth mining include ecosystem disruptions, water and air pollution, high energy consumption, and radioactive waste. Careful environmental safety measures must be implemented. We should learn from past mistakes, or the Earth pay the price.

Disclaimer: Our coverage of events affecting companies is purely informative and descriptive.
