However, the state still has a high poverty rate despite its strong economy. Thankfully, one group of citizens in this state will qualify for +$700 checks, and this cash rain will happen sooner than you think! Find out today what the eligibility requirements are, and whether you could also receive some additional cash in just one day. It is much easier than it sounds!

This is why stimulus checks are crucial in this state

One particular U.S. state has a significantly higher poverty rate compared to other states. According to the US Census Bureau’s Supplemental Poverty Measure, nearly 12.3% of citizens in this state lived below the official poverty line. Other citizens with incomes between 100-150% of the poverty line accounted for 6.1%, which means this state’s poverty rate is almost 19%. According to CalMatters, a high cost of living is a significant contributor.

Key factors that contribute to the state’s high cost of living

Groceries and Utilities

High consumer demand and the high cost of transporting goods across a large state increase expenses

Housing and Real Estate

A high demand and limited land significantly increase housing and rent prices

Restrictive zoning laws limit housing development, which also increases costs

Other expenses

Transportation and healthcare are higher than in many other states

Thankfully, one specific county managed to counter these poverty levels, as a certain program has continued to financially assist its qualifying citizens to afford essentials.

One group of citizens will qualify for the payments

The California Department of Social Services funds the program and distributes the funds to qualifying families in the county. The goal of the pilot program is to provide financial stability and improve overall household well-being to strengthen families.

The program is known as the Family First Economic Support Pilot (FFESP), and this program will be paying out the $725 to Sacramento families. To qualify for these checks, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Your household resides in one of the qualifying zip codes in Sacramento County

Your household was one of the 200 randomly selected households

You are the parent or legal guardian of a child aged 0-5 years

The child resides with you at least 50% of the time

You are not part of another guaranteed income project

Your annual household income is less than 200% of the federal poverty line (FPL)

The 200% FPL limit is reliant on household size:

Household of 2 – $40,880

Household of 3 – $51,640

Household of 4 – $62,400

Household of 5 – $73,160

Household of 6 – $83,920

Household of 7 – $94,680

Household of 8 – $105,440

Each additional member above 8 – add $10,760

Payments will be made sooner than you think

According to the Sacramento Department of Child, Family and Adult Services, anyone who qualifies for the FFESP will receive these checks monthly for an entire year. The first payment went out June 15, 2025, and the last is scheduled for May 15, 2026. These payments will be distributed onto a debit card or directly into bank accounts, depending on the preferred payment option.

The next payment will be made sooner than you think. Qualifying low-income families with children can expect their next round of payments tomorrow, September 15, 2025. That means, qualifying citizens will just have to wait one more day for their payments!

State initiatives such as the FFESP are crucial to provide citizens with financial security, but also to stimulate the local economy. The FFESP also counters poverty levels in the county and helps minimize the contact of young children with the welfare system as a result. California is not the only state with financial assistance programs. New York has also shown its commitment to citizens hoping to expand their families, as this state’s BABY benefit will be paying $1,800 to qualifying households.

Disclaimer: Our coverage of stimulus checks, tax reliefs, tax rebates, tax credits, and other payments is based on the official sources listed in the article.
