It is not the first<\/a> time Tesla is facing some sort of controversy, and we have become somewhat accustomed to it. However, this time around it is more serious and dangerous,<\/strong> making the company and its founder, Elon Musk, feel threatened. Tesla, known to be one of the world’s best electric vehicle manufacturing companies, is facing heated controversies and debates, causing its facilities to be vandalised.<\/a><\/p>\n

Media outlets such as NBC News, Bloomberg or ABC News are talking about an initiated investigation by the FBI. The situation has gotten out of hand and it has caused a shake in the United States. The issue with these types of protests and violence is that, although Tesla is the target, there is a high chance that other people may be caught in the crossfire and burn or get hurt, causing more problems on top of the vandalism that is happening.<\/p>\n

Protests and vandalism: An increasing and worrisome crisis<\/h2>\n

According to reports by Forbes<\/em>, this whole crisis officially started in January 2025<\/a>; according to authorities, a man tossed Molotov cocktails at Tesla cars, resulting in one of them catching fire. Over the past few months, Tesla facilities across the United States have been exposed to vandalism such as property damage, arson attempts, and nonstop protests.<\/strong> It has also made surrounding neighbourhoods and residents feel anxious because of the ongoing violence.<\/p>\n

Bloomberg<\/em> has reported that the FBI wants to see whether all this is coming from individuals who are committing personal crimes or if it is a planned coordinated scheme targeted at Tesla. It is one thing for individuals to hate a company and decide to cause problems or attack, and it is one thing for a group of “rich” people to have beef with Tesla or its CEO, and they pay individuals to cause havoc to their premises.<\/p>\n

Elon Musk expressed to Fox News’ Sean Hannity that there could be larger forces at work funding this whole situation. The problem with his statement or accusation is that there is no evidence and even if he is right, he is a billionaire and could have enemies that want to bring him down. The FBI has expressed the seriousness of this situation and is working hard to put everyone involved in prison or charged with domestic terrorism.<\/p>\n

Ideological or opportunistic reasons for the protests?<\/h2>\n

Forbes<\/em> reports that the reason behind all these protests and vandalism is quite absurd. People have expressed that this has been driven by Tesla’s labour practices, and believe that Tesla does not have the environment’s best interest at heart.<\/strong> They have the assumption that the company is harming the environment and they’re just against the company’s rapid shift to electrical vehicle manufacturing.<\/p>\n

Protests against Tesla have also occurred internationally<\/h2>\n

It gets worse. Protests have spread outside the United States into Toulouse, France, claimed Forbes<\/em>. This gives us more reason to believe that this could be a funded scheme and not just an accident. Twelve Tesla vehicles were set on fire in France; a Tesla factory in Berlin was also set on fire and it caused a power outage, according to Forbes.<\/p>\n

The wider repercussions: What this signifies for Tesla<\/h2>\n

Tesla is in a bad situation right now, and this could take down the business financially in a very bad way. Already, it has not been performing well due to other factors, such as competition, especially in China. Therefore, this whole situation has taken it back instead of moving forward. This could affect investment opportunities for the company<\/strong> and lead the company to enforce stricter security measures.<\/p>\n

Tesla recently revealed the first decline in yearly sales in its history, and there are signs that sales may decline this quarter as well, according to CNN<\/em>. Tesla sales fell 50% in January, despite a 34% increase in all electric vehicle sales in Europe.
