The government usually sends stimulus checks to taxpayers to aid in financial relief, boost their spending power, and encourage economic activity. One state in particular will be making payments, but only some will qualify for the stimulus check. If you live in this state, ensure you meet the requirements to qualify for a stimulus check.

Citizens of this state could receive an extra payment

Thanks to the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend, eligible residents may benefit from the Permanent Fund Dividend. The Permanent Fund Dividend is the state’s initiative to issue income produced by the state’s natural resources. In Alaska’s case, its main income from natural resources is primarily oil.

The 2025 Permanent Fund Dividend amount is $1,000, as confirmed by the Alaska Department of Revenue. The total is set and applies to eligible applicants across the scheduled payment dates.

These citizens qualify for the extra payment

As with any stimulus check, the government has set requirements to allow only certain citizens to qualify for the contribution. To qualify for the Permanent Fund Dividend, citizens will have to meet the following requirements:

Alaska residency – You must have lived in Alaska throughout 2024 with the intent of remaining permanently.

Physical presence – You must have been in Alaska for at least 72 consecutive hours in 2023 or 2024.

Absences – If you were absent for more than 180 days, it can only be accounted for by studies, medical treatments, or military service.

Criminal status – If you had a felony or more than one misdemeanor conviction in 2024, you will not qualify for the stimulus check.

Application deadline – Your application must have been submitted by March 31, 2025.

If your application was submitted after the deadline, it will be invalid even if you meet all the other requirements. Each resident, including minors, should have submitted their application through the official website pfd.alaska.gov or by using paper forms. Lastly, the Permanent Fund Dividend Division stated that obtaining an out-of-state driver’s license with a REAL ID could affect whether you qualify, so it is advised to avoid it.

When can the payments be expected?

After reading the requirements, you now know whether you qualify for the Permanent Fund Dividend. The payment schedule shows that 2025 (and prior year) dividend applications in “Eligible-Not Paid” status on May 13, 2026, will be distributed on May 21, 2026.

Subsequent payments will be distributed on June 18, 2026, for applications in “Eligible-Not Paid” status by June 10, 2026, and on July 16, 2026, for those cleared by July 8, 2026.
