He has become synonymous with the term controversial, thanks to his social media contributions, public statements, and numerous business operations. One of his latest moves has unveiled what lies in his future sights after Tesla and SpaceX, and it could finally be robots.<\/p>\n
South African-born Elon Musk is known for his futuristic entrepreneurial ambitions, especially when it comes to electric vehicles and space. According to Britannica Money<\/em>, one of Musk’s first inventions was a video game, which he created at age 12 and sold to a computer magazine – we guess you can never start them too early, eh?<\/p>\n He made his first billion dollars after selling his stake in PayPal to eBay for $1.5 billion in 2002. That year, he created a very important company called Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX<\/strong>. The company has one great goal, and that is to produce cost-effective rockets to transport humankind between Earth, Mars, and the Moon. By 2024, SpaceX was responsible for over half of the world’s orbital launches.<\/p>\n Besides space launches, satellite systems, and megaconstellations, Musk also had an interest in other areas of business. He believed that electric vehicles are the future of mobility<\/strong>, which is why he became one of the primary investors for Tesla in 2004, according to Britannica Money<\/em>. Now, the enigma of a man has set his sights on something new.<\/p>\n As reported by Teslarati<\/em>, Tesla Inc.’s subdivision, Tesla Automation GmbH, has agreed to buy the principal assets of German automation systems supplier Manz AG<\/strong>. The German multinational high-tech engineering company that specializes in automation solutions for numerous industries. Some of these solutions include:<\/p>\n Manz officially became insolvent after filing for bankruptcy in December 2024. Tesla Automation jumped at the opportunity, as the German company’s operations are similar<\/strong> to Tesla’s present operations<\/a>.<\/p>\n “We are pleased to have successfully concluded the negotiations with Tesla, to have saved many jobs, and thus to have enabled the employees to have a professional future in what is probably the best-known automotive group in the field of electric mobility.” – Insolvency administrator Martin Mucha<\/p><\/blockquote>\n According to Teslarati<\/em>, Tesla Automation will reportedly re-employ more than 300 of Manz’s employees<\/a><\/strong> and gain control of Manz’s movable assets at the German company’s Reutlingen site. Musk most likely has his fingers crossed, as the German Federal Cartel Office must still approve the purchase before it can be signed off as completed according to merger control laws. The price of the agreement has not been made public by either Manz or Tesla Automation, but we can imagine a few zeros in the price.<\/p>\n “We are gaining qualified employees with a high level of expertise in high-tech mechanical engineering. The Reutlingen site is an ideal complement to the continued successful implementation of our global automation projects in the Tesla Group. We are very pleased to be realizing future innovations there.” – comment by Lothar Thommes, Managing Director at Tesla Automation<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Unfortunately, not all of Manz’s employees will be joining the new team, and approximately 100 people will become unemployed<\/strong> once the deal is sealed.
