Fortunately, some pensioners could qualify to receive up to £5,740 next year. Furthermore, meeting one of 48 criteria is enough to qualify for this payment. Sounds too good to be true? The numbers do not lie. Discover the full list of criteria to determine if you will be eligible to receive the maximum payment in the new year. Remember, you don’t have to be a Scrooge to be lucky!

Every pound counts in today’s day and age

The British economy is currently in a precarious state, and several Britons are experiencing financial vulnerability. According to a report by Fair4All Finance, slow GDP growth in the third quarter, tax increases, and weak exports have been some of the main contributors to the precarious economy. As a result, the country’s poverty levels may worsen, pushing more people into relative and absolute poverty.

That is why financial support in the UK is crucial, as every pence counts in today’s day and age. Fortunately, thanks to a certain benefits programme, some pensioners may receive up to £5,470 in the new year, provided they meet the list of criteria. Fortunately, meeting one of 48 criteria is enough to qualify for these payments. Will you qualify for the benefits programme? Let’s find out.

Pensioners could receive up to £5,740

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) declared that over 1.7 million older Britons were claiming from this particular benefits programme at the end of February. The programme is known as the Attendance Allowance. It is distributed every four weeks, and the weekly payment rates range from £73.90 and £110.40. This means that anyone who qualifies for the maximum weekly amount can expect to receive nearly £5,740.80 annually.

Britons of State Pension age are targeted to benefit from Attendance Allowance to assist with the cost of living expenses and to help them maintain their independence as long as possible. Remember, the State Pension Age is set to change in 2026, so some may have to wait longer to qualify. Residents of Scotland should note that they can no longer claim this benefit, as the Pension Age Disability Payment replaced it in July.

Meeting one of 48 criteria is enough to qualify

According to the DWP’s statement on Attendance Allowance, to qualify, you must be of state pension age and meet one of the listed 48 qualifying long-term physical, mental, or health conditions.
