Corleo has been unveiled by Japan and it has the world shocked. Kawasaki have brought the hydrogen dream to life with this amazing invention. The vehicle resembles a mixture of a motorcycle and a horse. Yes we know how that sounds. But that really is what it looks like. It’s unique design and the way in which it moves has shocked the world. Kawasaki have always been a global leader in the robotics sector. And this new design is not just a drawing on a page. The actual concept vehicle has been unveiled and it has shocked the world as to how it works.
How did Kawasaki end up making this unique vehicle?
Way back in 1961, Kawasaki Robotics, a division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, began its robotics journey. They quickly established themselves as the global leader in robotics. Kawasaki Robotics became the go to destination and their robots can be found in a number of diverse sectors. On factory floors across the world, their robots have been part of the worlds manufacturing process for decades.
They then went on to open robotics factories around the world. They were able to establish a huge income for them that allowed them to focus on their motorcycles and the advancements in robotics we are now seeing come to light. What they have made is truly remarkable and has the potential to change the personal transport sector.
When we consider that the new vehicle uses a hydrogen fuel cell as its power source, it certainly is a step into the unknown. The hydrogen industry is fast becoming the fuel of the future for most of the world’s largest manufacturers. This vehicle looks more alive than any other machine we have ever seen. Adding to the mysteriousness of the whole project.
What exactly have Kawasaki made with the Corleo?
The vehicle is designed to look like a horse. Or at least a futuristic horse out of a Cyberpunk fable. It features four legs that operate independently of each other. The front legs control the up and down movement while the back legs provide the propulsion. The rider sits on a saddle of sorts and the machine keeps the drivers centre of gravity balanced.
It was specifically designed to go off road. The problem with our planet is that to get anywhere, we first need to build the infrastructure to move about. Roads, bridges and fuel refilling stations are a necessity. This machine would see an end to all that. Kawasaki have made the machine capable of covering great distances off road in very difficult environments.
Its hydrogen fuel cell enables it to get fuel from the planet without the harmful effects of fossil fuels. The world is making a significant move towards a future powered by a hydrogen fuel cell of some sort. The Corleo is just the latest step towards that future. We cannot understate how strange and alien this machine looks to operate. But Kawasaki swears by it and plans to release it in 2050.
Can we all say goodbye to our gasoline powered cars and trucks?
While advancements in the EV sector are promising, the future will not be powered by a lithium battery pack. The world is searching for the next alternative fuel source. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. With the advancements in technology, the world can edge ever closer to the comfort that the hydrogen fuel cell brings our collective consciences. The Corleo is a truly amazing achievement from Kawasaki, and it has forced the world to question whether the car as we know it is coming to an end?
