Misery loves company, and when it comes to class action lawsuits, the saying is on the nose. These types of lawsuits help bring justice to a group of people who have suffered the same harm. In many cases, it not only brings these people justice, but also puts some extra money in their pockets. A new data breach settlement, in particular, will have up to $5,000 hitting pockets soon. Find out today if you are among the qualifying people who could earn some extra money.

A new data breach class action settlement that will be paying out soon

A new data breach class action settlement’s payout will be hitting pockets soon. The defendant, TalentLaunch, is an employment agency that assists employers in linking with prospective employees. TalentLaunch has numerous divisions, including, but not limited to:

  • Alliance Healthcare
  • Alliance Industrial
  • Bonney Staffing
  • Helpmates
  • Selectemp
  • Stivers
  • The McIntyre Group

In late May 2023, the company reportedly fell victim to a data breach, compromising the personal data of almost 119,000 people. The personal data included birth dates, consumer names, Social Security numbers, passport numbers, state ID and driver’s license numbers, financial account details, medical and health insurance information, biometric information, digital signatures, and mother’s maiden names.

Plaintiffs argued that TalentLaunch delayed its response for months before informing affected consumers. Plaintiffs also argued that the company could have prevented the breach and protected the sensitive personal information if proper cybersecurity measures had been in place. TalentLaunch denied all wrongdoing, but agreed to a $1.2 million settlement to resolve the allegations. On March 27, 2025, the court preliminarily approved the deal.

Only this group of people will qualify for the claim

As with any other class action lawsuit settlement, only qualifying class members will be eligible to receive a payout. This group of people will qualify for the claim:

  • Consumers who received a notice letter informing them of the May 2023 TalentLaunch data breach
  • Consumers who filed a valid claim form by the deadline
  • Consumers who have documentation validating any out-of-pocket losses due to the data breach

This is what qualifying class members can claim:

  • Out-of-pocket losses due to the data breach
    • Damages due to identity theft or fraud, costs of freezing and/or unfreezing credit reports, and other traceable expenses
    • Claim up to $5,000 in reimbursement
  • Pro rata cash payment
    • Approximately $53.77

Class members should note that the cash payment amount may be higher or lower based on the remaining settlement fund after settling administration fees, attorneys’ charges, class representative awards, and valid out-of-pocket claims. According to the official settlement website, the cash payment amount will not be more than $350.

This is when the settlement will be paying out

If you have met all the requirements and you have valid documentation, ensure you file a valid claim form by the deadline of July 25, 2025. Claim forms can be filed online by utilizing the class member ID found on the settlement notice. Alternately, claim forms can be downloaded in PDF form and submitted by mail to the Settlement Administrator.

The official payout date has not been confirmed yet. According to Goldstein Hayes & Lina, LLC, the waiting period to receive payouts from a settlement after the final approval hearing may vary. Some class members could receive their payouts earlier than others. Factors that may delay payouts include:
  • Size of the settlement fund
  • Complexity of the case
  • Insurance company delays
  • Appeals
  • Outstanding liens

The TalentLaunch data breach settlement’s final approval hearing is scheduled for August 12, 2025. Keep an eye out for other class action settlements and their potential reimbursements. For more information about this settlement, you can visit Top Class Actions and get informed about how to file a claim.

Disclaimer: You should not submit false or inflated claims under penalty of perjury, as class‑action claim forms historically required declarations signed “under penalty of perjury” to ensure authenticity. Submitting a fraudulent claim not only carries legal exposure—including potential civil and criminal sanctions—but also harms other eligible class members by diluting the available settlement pool.
