“The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind; The answer is blowin’ in the wind.” Bob Dylan debuted this song back in 1962, but ironically enough, the answer to our present energy needs generally is blowing in the wind. Many homeowners have turned to more eco-friendly and cost-effective solutions to power their homes, with this home turbine being a perfect example. Known as ‘QuietRevolution’, it promises free power, and so much more.

This home turbine is known as ‘QuietRevolution’

The world is gradually revolving around renewable energy. Sources typically include Earth’s heat, water, sunlight, and wind. The latter has been used for many years and its kinetic energy is transformed into electricity by utilizing wind turbines. The traditional ones have been popular for quite some time. However, their challenges have raised concerns over the years.

Traditional units are massive and require an expanse of land. They not only become an eyesore but they also potentially pose a risk to the surrounding wildlife. So far, their energy production has primarily been commercially applicable on a large scale, with few options for residential and urban needs. Other cons include high maintenance costs and excessive noise pollution. Thankfully, many innovative companies have been developing units to address these challenges.

What looks like a renewable energy success story in Iceland is now revealing an unexpected problem underground

Enter ‘QuietRevolution’, the turbine that will offer an innovative and efficient solution to renewable energy needs in residential and urban environments.

A design that will trump all the traditional designs

QuietRevolution is a vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) that has a Qr6 rotor. VWT Power in the UK is the brains behind the small turbine, and while it may be small, keep in mind that dynamite comes in small packages. It’s the company’s next-generation helical VAWT sporting a distinguished design with sturdy aerodynamic performance.

Its torque tube, spokes, and blades are fabricated with enhanced hybrid material which includes carbon fiber. Carbon fiber was chosen for its lightweight, strength, and durability. Environments with harsh weather conditions can depend on this turbine, as it has a military-grade marine rating. Its design also results in increased power production whilst remaining aesthetically pleasing, and is applicable on a small scale. Its industrial programmable logic controller allows alteration to comply with worldwide grid codes.

QuietRevolution has a power rating of 7.5 kW and is operational in various wind conditions, including:

  • A startup speed of 3 m/s (6.7 mph)
  • Functioning until its cutout speed of 2 m/s (4.5 mph)
  • Ability to function in winds up to 20 m/s (45mph)

QuietRevolution will quietly change your home life

This turbine is so much more than its impressive power rating. As mentioned, one of the cons of traditional designs is their excessive noise pollution. Well, the name ‘QuietRevolution’ says it all. Its design provides an answer to the problem in the following ways:

  • The aero-elastic blades absorb the vibration of tumultuous wind, resulting in an effortless, quiet performance
  • The blade tips are near the rotation axis thanks to the rotor’s vertical axis shape, which decreases blade tip speed and essentially the overall noise

Other benefits of the VAWT Qr6

  • It is more space-efficient, making it effective in urban environments or residential environments
  • The Qr6 rotor harvests wind from every direction, resulting in maximized efficiency
  • The Qr6 is appropriate for roof mounts, as its blades result in decreased vibration

Overall, this innovative and sleek design is powerful enough to meet energy demands, is aesthetically pleasing, and has more application possibilities than traditional designs. Most importantly, VAWTs are becoming popular due to their contribution to the global transition to renewable energy solutions, as they are more eco-friendly than HAWTs. It seems Bob Dylan was right, the answer is truly blowing in the wind.
