The line between fact and fiction is a very thin one, but when it comes to extra money, we guess some people will believe anything. Claims have recently been made regarding additional IRS stimulus checks awaiting beneficiaries this April. Is this going to be a confirmed payment, or just wishful thinking? From a subjective point of view, we most definitely won’t say no to a few extra cash dollar bills. We are here to keep you informed and help fact-check all the April stimulus check payments.
The alleged stimulus check that will be paid out in April
On April 11, 2025, certain media announced possible surprise stimulus checks of up to $800 awaiting to be claimed by beneficiaries in April. Before everyone gets all excited, we are still awaiting official confirmation on whether the announcement has validity. Now, whether this is a hoax or not, it is factual that low-income individuals will always benefit from additional income to deal with rising inflation.
According to these reports, the goal of the alleged surprise stimulus check is to aid in the reduction of financial strain caused by year-end expenses. People who are deemed eligible for the alleged benefits include:
- Recipients of the Social Security benefits, including survivors, retirees, and recipients of SSDI.
- American Citizens or permanent residents of the US aged 65 years old or older.
- Recipients of SSI with limited or no income.
- Households with income below the federal poverty level.
- People who have Social Security Numbers and verified authority details.
It is claimed that individuals who meet the above criteria will receive a non-taxable, one-time payment of $800. It supposedly also will not reduce your ongoing SSI, SSDI, VA, or Social Security benefits. If households have more than one qualified member, such as a retired couple or disabled veteran, each qualified member will supposedly receive separate payments.
This is where you can fact-check a confirmed payment
We await the official confirmation from the IRS of the surprise stimulus checks and a confirmed date for the supposed federal payment, but we do not write the claims off as mere fiction just yet. Relevant economic relief is not unheard of, as various state governments have implemented such initiatives to offer Americans alternatives.
A well-known example is Colorado’s Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR), which supplies significant concessions for some taxpayers, with some potentially reaching $1,600 for joint filers. TABOR is part of state law that requires reserve budget funds to be returned to taxpayers when state revenues exceed specified limits. We advise you to visit the IRS official website for more information and clarity on confirmed payments.
Confirmed payments as previously reported by us
We have reported on various confirmed payments that beneficiaries could have claimed. One such example includes the monthly SSA payment that hit beneficiaries’ bank accounts on April 9. Beneficiaries usually receive confirmed monthly SSA payments according to their birth dates of any month.
Tax season 2025 closed yesterday, April 15, and some people qualified for the IRS’s full Recovery Rebate Credit of $1,400 for the 2021 tax year. This means that whoever filed their income tax return for 2021 will soon be enjoying the IRS’s $1,400 stimulus checks in April. Of course, four weeks into tax season, the IRS paid out more than $102 billion to taxpayers who submitted their returns early.
So, wishful thinking aside, it can be possible that the IRS felt some generosity in their hearts and will indeed send out $800 stimulus checks to eligible people, but before you also start spreading the news like wildfire, please (and we cannot stress this enough) wait for the IRS to officially confirm the announcements circling media as we speak. As soon as we have confirmation, we will also inform you promptly.
