NASA spots strange anomaly

NASA has spotted a mysterious anomaly that covers half of America. And it is growing and moving. The anomaly has researchers at NASA and ESA puzzled. They have been studying the strange anomaly for some time now. Only recently have they noticed the effect the anomaly has on us. One can think of it as a dent or pothole in the magnetic force field that surrounds the earth. That magnetic force protects the instruments on telescopes as well as the international space station from the radiation of the sun.

What is causing this pothole in the earth’s magnetic field?

NASA has been at the forefront of space exploration for many decades. The Apollo missions took the human race further than ever before. Their moon missions were broadcast around the world in real time. No doubt inspiring a whole generation of scientists and astrophysicists around the world. The innovation and pace of progress since then has been truly amazing.

Since the launch of the James Webb telescope, the images and discoveries being made are astounding. Our knowledge of the universe is expanding at a rapid pace, much like the universe we are studying. This latest discovery is slightly closer to home. What scientist have observed is a large anomaly that is not static. Meaning that its moving and growing.

Norwegian researchers can now scan an entire forest from a drone and pinpoint exactly which trees are about to bring down the power grid

The implications of this anomaly can be felt very far into our orbit. The strange anomaly effects the tools and data that we have come to rely on so much. What has caused it has the researchers concerned as to the future effects it can have. Its growing and we can only speculate as to what it will end up doing. Could this anomaly hinder our space exploration? Not according to some it would seem.

What have they found deep in the earth’s crust that has NASA so worried?

The researchers have found the primary source is the churning ocean of molten iron in Earth’s outer core. That core generates electric currents that create Earth’s magnetic field. That field is where the effects are felt. A massive dense rock reservoir known as the African Large Low Shear Velocity Province is partially responsible as well. It is disturbing the core which is resulting in a drop in the earth’s magnetic current.

NASA geophysicist Terry Sabaka stated, “The magnetic field is actually a superposition of fields from many current sources.” These two disturbances in the earth’s current has been growing at an alarming rate recently. Bringing the focus into the long term effects on our space exploration programs. The possible implications could be huge on our pursuit for answers.

One can understand NASA’s need to understand this anomaly as it could have far reaching effects, literally. The instruments in space that we rely on to study our universe are directly affected when they pass over this large anomaly in the America’s. The urgency is paramount for NASA and the world’s top minds to find a solution to this new problem.

How much will this slow down our venture into the stars?

With the world looking to the stars for answers, this new development has some concerned. The innovation and invention happening on earth will certainly ensure that a possible solution is found sooner rather than later. This strange anomaly is growing and we wonder what the large scale effects will be if something is not done. Whether that be on earth or changing our method of studying the universe, we need to concentrate on the pursuit of answers. This new development will slow down the pace, but ultimately nothing can stop us from exploring the stars.
