Not all states may qualify as “interesting.” This state, however, is home to Denali, the highest peak in North America, and has the northernmost, easternmost, and westernmost points in the US. Additionally, the state is known for its diverse wildlife, including brown and black bears, moose, caribou, and various bird species. Not to mention the brilliant fund that will be paying $1,702 in June, so check if you qualify today.
The one state that will be paying people in June
If our hints were enough, then by now you should know that Alaska will be paying thousands of its residents. The state is distributing part of its oil and gas exploitation income to its residents through the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD).
Alaska’s Permanent Fund was created in 1975 to give back a portion of oil revenues to the population directly. Since its establishment, the resources management has been in the hands of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation, which is a state organization managing investments and guaranteeing the annual payment to qualifying citizens meeting the residency requirements.
The dividend is more than the individual benefit because it also impacts the local economy directly. The extra money increases consumption and promotes business productivity, which means it serves as a measure of economic stimulus in uncertain times.
This is how much money can be expected from the Permanent Fund Dividend
Alaskan residents can expect $1,702 each if they qualify, of course. The dividend still includes an additional bonus as the state has a high cost of living.
Each beneficiary can expect a check that will consist of two components:
- The main dividend of $1,403.83
- An additional bonus to cover the energy costs of $298.17
When to expect payments
Most Alaskans who qualify will have received their Permanent Fund Dividend checks on May 15, 2025. If you have applied, but still await your payment, then be on the lookout for additional payments on June 18, 2025, as your status will be marked “Eligible–Not Paid” by June 11, 2025.
Beneficiaries should take note that the PFD Division warned that the possession of an out-of-state driver’s license with a REAL ID may affect your eligibility, which is why residents were encouraged to avoid it unless necessary.
Only this group of people will qualify for the payments
According to the Alaska Department of Revenue, the state has confirmed specific requirements that will determine whether residents qualify for the $1,702 payment for the Permanent Fund Dividend in 2025.
The requirements that will determine which residents qualify
- Application deadline:
- All applications had to be submitted by March 31, 2025.
- Criminal status:
- Applicants with a felony conviction or multiple misdemeanors in 2024 are disqualified.
- Alaska residency:
- Must have lived in the state for the entire 2024 calendar year, intending to stay permanently.
- Not have applied for residency outside Alaska during that period.
- Physical presence:
- Must have been physically present in Alaska for at least 72 consecutive hours in the past two years
- Absences:
- Being absent for more than 180 days must be validated by reasons, such as education, military service, or medical treatment.
If you have met all these requirements, then in two weeks tops, you should be jumping with joy as you receive your Permanent Fund Dividend check.
As you eagerly await your PFD check, you can stay up to date with your Application Status by selecting “myPFD” on the Alaska Department of Revenue’s official website. Always ensure that your address is current on your submitted application. If you have electronically signed your PFD application, you are advised to sign into “myPFD” and update your address online or by completing the Address Change Form and submitting it to one of the Alaska Department of Revenue offices.
