Gas prices are skyrocketing around the United States. Thankfully, one state has approved a new bill aimed at helping millions of drivers. The global gasoline price has been fluctuating in recent months as the world comes to grips with the never-ending fuel crisis. Driving can come with a whole set of challenges, from taking into consideration congestion, avoiding driving while intoxicated, and undoubtedly, the most concerning factor: gasoline prices. As the festive season hits the United States, a wave of drivers is set to head home for the holidays, if they can afford it, that is.

Diversifying fuel mixes can help save drivers in the United States a lot of money

The ever-present fluctuating gasoline prices in the United States have led some people to instead take an airplane or train for longer journeys. The US has been working alongside some of the other energy-rich nations of the world to develop new and exciting fuel mixes that can reduce reliance on conventional gasoline. However, making changes to the type of fuel allowed on US roads needs to be approved by state and federal regulators.

The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has been attracting a lot of attention in recent months, some say for all the wrong reasons. Gov Newsom has been bumping heads with US President Donald Trump on a wide range of issues, bringing the discussion to the forefront of the public’s attention. However, Gov Newsom has recently signed a new bill that has been welcomed by millions of drivers in his state.

California’s Governor signs new bill aimed at reducing fuel costs in his state

Gavin Newsom recently signed a new bill that allows for the use of blended gasoline, specifically, the E15 fuel, which is a mix of traditional gasoline and ethanol. The new bill allows for the sale of E15 in California while the Air Resources Board continues to conduct studies on whether the fuel meets the specified requirements under state law.

E15 fuel can save California drivers up to $0.20 per gallon

Gov Newsom signed the new bill recently, which was submitted by Democratic Assembly member David Alvarez. Following record gasoline prices in 2022, Newsom directed state officials to begin conducting studies regarding the use of E15, which follows similar initiatives in several other US states. According to California Assembly Bill 30, drivers in California can expect to pay significantly less per gallon at the pumps when the new bill comes into effect.

According to the official statement from the Governor of California, drivers in California can save up to $0.20 per gallon, or as much as $2.7 billion annually, if they make use of the new E15 fuel instead of traditional gasoline. The Governor noted that some infrastructure modifications may be needed, but by signing the new bill into law, he is enabling Californians to diversify the fuel they use in their everyday travels.

The figures relating to the use of E15 were released by the Governor’s office and have been backed up by some of the most reputable institutions and Universities in the United States. Making changes to laws that govern US roads has become a common occurrence in several US states in recent months and years.

Drivers in the Golden State may be in for some serious fuel savings

As the new bill comes into effect, the substantial savings in fuel costs for Californians will surely go down well with the populace, not to mention the litany of renewable fuel organizations that litter the US. The festive season often sees millions of drivers heading to their home states to spend time with family and old friends. The federal government has recently implemented a new speed limit on Interstate highways to make driving this year a little bit safer. Add to that the new, reduced fuel prices in California, and the new year is looking good for American drivers.
