The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has great news in store for families, as they could get £1,085 before Christmas. How, you ask? It’s simple, as millions are eligible for automatic DWP payments, and in conjunction with other benefit payments, the amount they may qualify for is worth over a thousand pounds altogether. Discover which benefits programmes will be paying out before Christmas. Who knows, perhaps when all the numbers add up, you could also be pocketing thousands!
‘Tis the season to spend more money
Christmas preparations are in full swing, with countless numbers of Christmas markets open across the UK and several shops and markets transformed into winter wonderlands filled with twinkling lights, tinsel, and classic holiday hits. While some people are already completing their wish lists for Father Christmas, others are facing growing financial concerns this season.
The UK’s high cost of living is expected to be hit with seasonal increases, particularly as temperatures begin to drop. According to the House of Commons Library’s report on the second half of the year’s inflation rate, the Bank of England predicted goods and services to be impacted by a 3.75% inflation rate. This means goods and services in the UK, such as energy and food, will be much higher than expected.
Fortunately, there is a silver lining to every dark cloud. Millions of Britons may be eligible for automatic DWP payments that are collectively worth £1,085, all before Christmas this year!
Millions eligible for automatic DWP payments
The DWP has blessed us with a list of payments to expect in November, and now, we have a list of payments that will be automatically paid out to eligible Britons just in time for Christmas. Families could get £1,085 by Christmas
If you are eligible to receive all of the abovementioned winter support benefits, as well as the maximum payment amounts of them all, then you could get a total of £1,085 by Christmas. The date you receive some of the above-mentioned winter support benefits will depend on the date you normally receive your usual benefits. The DWP uses a set schedule to distribute benefit payments, with an exception to the rule.
The exception to the rule is straightforward. If a payment date falls on a weekend or public holiday, the DWP will distribute the payment on the first work day before the weekend or public holiday. This means that anyone expecting a payment on 25 or 26 December (public holidays) this year will most likely receive it on 24 December.
Please note that these payment dates are not set in stone yet and will only be finalised by the DWP in December, so ensure that you keep a watchful eye out for the latest updates on the DWP’s payments. With so many winter support programmes to choose from, there is bound to be at least one that you and your family may benefit from this season. Another winter support benefit to consider as financial aid this season is the British Gas Energy Trust’s £2,000 grant for all qualifying families.
