Ladies and gentlemen, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has spoken. And before you start to get all jumpy, we are the bearer of good news. The SSA has confirmed the next payment date, and one group in particular could be receiving up to $967. Find out today if you are among the group of people meeting the requirements to potentially receive up to $967 soon.
Payments will be hitting bank accounts soon
Every month, the SSA distributes benefits to millions of American citizens. One such benefit includes the Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which is usually distributed to eligible citizens who are elderly or disabled and live on limited income and resources. The SSA typically distributes the SSI benefits on the first of each month, with some exceptions to the rule.
This is how much money will be hitting bank accounts
In 2025, SSI beneficiaries could potentially receive up to:
- $967 for individuals
- $1,450 for couples
Beneficiaries should note that these amounts may vary based on total income, family members’ income, living conditions, and so forth. In a nutshell:
- Your SSI is lowered by $1 for every $2 you earn from work, such as a job, self-employment, or other income-generating activities.
- Your SSI is lowered by $1 for every $1 you earn from non-work funding, such as pensions, unemployment funding, and disability benefits.
- Your spouse’s income may also impact your SSI payment.
These people will qualify for these payments
We’ve established the ‘what’, and before we get to the ‘when’, let us focus on the ‘who.’ Just like Social Security benefits have requirements, so do SSI benefits. You could be among the group of people who will be receiving SSI benefits soon, but only if you meet one of the following requirements:
- You are age 65 or older
- You have little or no income
- Your monthly income is $2,019 or less
- You have limited or no resources at all
- Typical resources include vehicles and money in bank accounts
- As an individual, your resources must be $2,000 or less
- As a couple, your resources must be $3,000 or less
- Children could increase these amounts by $2,000
- You are 64 years old or younger and blind or have another qualifying disability
- Your disability affects your workability for a year or more
- You earn a monthly income of $1,550 or less
- Your disability will result in death
- You have a child with a disability
- Your child’s disability significantly limits his/her daily activities
SSI benefits are crucial additional income, and thankfully, the benefits will bring relief to qualifying people much sooner than they think.
The confirmed payment date according to the SSA
The SSA distributed its benefits to beneficiaries according to a set payment schedule. Social Security retirement, disability, and survivor beneficiaries are assigned either the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of the month based on their birth date, whereas the SSI benefits are usually distributed on the first of each month. According to the Social Security payment schedule, the confirmed payment date for SSI benefits will be:
- July 1, 2025.
In many cases, there are exceptions to the rule. For instance, should the first day of the month fall on a weekend, the SSI payment will be distributed on the last Friday of the prior month instead. This exception is also true for public holidays. This is precisely what happened this month, as June 1 fell on a Sunday, which is why this month’s SSI benefits were distributed in May. This approach ensures that beneficiaries receive their payments promptly and thus would not have to face any delays.
Thankfully, qualifying beneficiaries will not have to alter their monthly budget for July, as the SSA payment schedule will proceed as normal. This means that beneficiaries will soon be receiving their SSI payments.
