Hyundai topping car sales in the US

A pilot flying 4 passengers over South Africa felt something cold slide across his back mid flight, and what he found hiding under his seat is a danger almost no flight check ever looks for

A supertanker left a Venezuelan port carrying about 1.8 million barrels of oil, and the shadow trick it used to fool maritime trackers reveals a hidden ocean that nobody was watching

Every massive cargo ship drops what looks like a hook the size of a car, and the thing that actually holds 100,000 tons of steel in place is something almost nobody ever sees

If you were asked to guess which car manufacturer is seeing the best sales performance in the United States in February 2025, you may very well have not come up with the correct answer. This Asian outfit, one of many currently putting on a good showing in the American market, reported record-breaking sales in February.

This trend is likely to continue as the brand’s reputation is growing as a reliable and affordable option, two key characteristics that virtually every vehicle consumer is looking for. The carmaker also has drivers at heart with its focus on fresh and useful features, and it’s on the right trajectory to break more records in the not-too-distant future.

Asian brand posts record-breaking sales in a friendly American market

Some of the models released by this impressive vehicle producer out of South Korea are the Santa Fe, the Tucson, and the IONIQ 6—have you figured it out yet?

It’s Hyundai Motor America that’s smashing records in the competitive and busy US market. Total sales increased a phenomenal 3% in February. This is the auto powerhouse’s fifth consecutive month of achieving best-ever sales figures and celebrations will be taking place from the States to Hyundai’s seat in South Korea.

US consumers have warmed up well to renewably-powered vehicles in recent years, and Hyundai has models to fill all EV, BEV, HEV, and PHEV demands and beyond.

One would have thought that Tesla would be performing better in the EV market that the company was born for, but unfortunately for Elon Musk and his team, Tesla has had a few months of slow sales in several of its supposed stronghold markets.

Hyundai’s February figures show incredible growth, the future looks bright

Hyundai’s top models that hit records in February are the IONIQ 6 sedan (all-electric), the Tucson SUV (HEV or PHEV), and the Santa Fe SUV (HEV or PHEV). Total electrified sales jumped by 35%. Of those, HEV are up 57% and EV sales delivered a 6% increase.

3 Hyundai models are driving the company’s success

The total number of Hyundai units sold in the US in February is 62,032, which is a significant 3% increase from the same month in 2024. This is, in fact, the best February that Hyundai has ever had, and five consecutive months of record-setting sales is definitely noteworthy. These are the all-time total sales records set by Hyundai’s favorite models in February:

  • Santa Fe HEV – +194%
  • Tucson – +2%
  • IONIQ 6 – +12%

Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, is thrilled with the company’s standing and excited about the future:

“This was the best ever February for Hyundai in total sales and the fifth consecutive month of total sales records driven by our volume leader Tucson and continued growth in EVs and hybrids. I expect our strong and diverse product line-up will propel us to further gains in market share and deliver on customer demand.”

Other industry players will also be taking note of how Hyundai America is performing and scrutinizing its offerings to figure out what’s making consumers so happy.

Notable recent achievements that see Hyundai at the top of its game

Hyundai has had several smaller reasons to pat itself on the back in recent months:

  • The IONIQ 6 sedan was recognized as the highest-ranking mass-market BEV in J.D. Power’s 2025 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study.
  • The IONIQ 5 and Kona SUVs came out on top in the 2025 Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards. This was the third consecutive year that the IONIQ 5 SUV has claimed Best Electric Vehicle, while the Kona was named Best Subcompact SUV for the second year in a row.
  • The IONIQ 5 N was listed as Midwest Automotive Media Association’s Favorite Vehicle of 2025 on the strength of impressive performance and driver engagement.

It’s clear that Hyundai is a major player in the US vehicle market and seems set to not only remain so, but rise to new heights in the future. It could fill the gap in the EV sphere that’s apparently being opened up by disappointing Tesla sales.
