Europe launches the sixth generation of a mythical car, 35 years on

35 years ago, this French automaker decided that your car should no longer be just a number and introduced its very first named model. And no, it’s not Volkswagen or BMW! It launched in 1990, and since then, the world has witnessed five generations of memories. Now, the world must brace itself for the sixth generation of this mythical car, which will undoubtedly create even more lasting memories globally.

According to the automaker, this model has been the best-selling French car in history, with global sales nearly reaching the 16 million milestone since its launch. So, what makes this particular car model so special? Well, the newest model to be launched will be the perfect combination of nostalgia and sleek high-tech design, building on the success of its predecessors. Find out more below.

Combining nostalgia with a sleek high-tech design

The French automaker Renault knows when to build on something good, as seen in its unveiling of the ‘Batmobile,’ hinting at what lies in store for the future. Now, Renault is launching its sixth-generation Clio model, the latest chapter in the popular model series. The new Renault Clio will be a hybrid E-Tech car boasting 160 HP, combining increased performance and efficiency.

Features to look forward to

  • Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (or 0 to 62 mph) in 8.3 seconds
  • Lower levels of consumption (72 mpg)
  • Reduced emissions to 89 g/km
  • OpenR Link multimedia system with built-in Google
  • LED mood lighting
  • Automatic climate control
  • Height-adjustable driver’s seat
  • 10.1″ central screen with smartphone replication
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Automatic parking brake
  • Advanced driver attention alert

When will the new Renault Clio model be available?

But wait, there’s more! The new Renault Clio will be available in three variants to fulfil the needs of its diverse customers. These three variants are:

  • The Evolution
    • Entry-level version
    • Full hybrid E-Tech 160HP costs approximately $28,469.58
  • The Techno
    • Improved connectivity and comfort
    • Full hybrid E-Tech 160HP costs approximately $31,941.48
  • The Esprit Alpine
    • Stronger character and top of the range
    • Full hybrid E-Tech 160HP costs approximately $33,908.89

Unsure whether the Clio model is quite the right fit for you? Renault’s website features several testimonials from loyal customers that may have you convinced otherwise. According to customer Pierre:

“The Renault Clio? To me it’s a symbol of France and the epitome of cars you can count on. My father had a Clio II and, 25 years later, I learnt to drive in a Clio V. I have nothing but fond memories of this car.”

So, it may not be the fastest or the strongest. Still, when it comes to reliability and safety, you won’t have to think twice, especially given the positive experiences of its predecessor, the fifth-generation Clio. Orders were already opened in October this year, and the first deliveries are expected to be completed by early 2026. So, if you have already placed an order, fingers crossed that you will be first in line to receive your new Renault Clio early in the new year. While you wait, have a look at Sweden’s new shocking hybrid that runs on something entirely new.
