KIA's electric car

KIA attempted to move forward to the next generation before creating a comprehensive electric vehicle, but now it’s time to revisit a few years and adapt to the current market trends. While some car brands are not concerned about producing electric cars and maintain their roots in combustion engines, the hybrid seems to be gaining popularity among car enthusiasts. With the power of fuel combined with electricity, the time of response when the foot is on the gas is almost instantaneous.

KIA aims to build its own electric world with a new EV

For years now, the South Korean brand has been on the minds of almost every person looking to purchase a reliable car with affordable and simple mechanics while still maintaining style. In this area, KIA had some excellent models such as the Soul, Sportage, Cerato, Sorento, Santa Fe, and the EVO9, which broke records. The brand established itself as one of the safest buys in the market, but it was not enough.

Later, hybrid models were introduced for the Sportage, Santa Fe and Niro – this one has a strong popularity, being considered as one of the best 10 electric cars in the United States in 2019. The Sportage and Santa Fe also had a significant impact in the country, with sales growing by 64% in the last year. However, now, KIA has lived long enough between the two worlds and has gone full electric in 2025.

The brand unveiled the EVA4 at the New York International Auto Show, Kia’s first global all-electric sedan. The bold move to break into the market dominated by SUVs and crossovers with a different style of electric car generated good impressions, particularly with the design of the vehicles.

A new car from KIA and different options for all kinds of drivers

The EVA4 comes in four models: the Light version with a driving range of 378 km, the GT-Line and GT-Line Limited with 482 km of autonomy, and the Wind trim version with 531 km. The charging power is even more impressive, with Kia claiming that it can go from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes, depending on the model and the size of the battery, which comes in two options. One with a 58.3 kWh battery for the Light FWD version and an 81.4 kWh battery for the GT-Line and GT-Line Limited versions, and standard and Premium Wind versions.

On the other hand, the cars that were shown in the Auto Show were just prototypes, but production started back in March for the Korean market. The sedan will be launched first in the brand’s homeland, while Europe will receive an exclusive hatchback model, as they prefer smaller cars. While the cars will start to be sold in South Korea in the second half of 2025, sales in the United States and Canada will begin in early 2026.

What the EV4 offers to energy-conscious KIA buyers

The majority of the interface is dedicated to safety and driver assistance. The EV4 is equipped with Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Remote Smart Parking Assist, Smart Parking Assist, and Hands-On Detection (HOD).

With the new car, KIA has fully entered a market that has never seen a fastback-style sedan, but has adopted the natural movement of producing variations from the same car for a specific location, like the hatchback in Europe. Sedans are not having an easy time in the market, with SUVs, light trucks and compact cars being the favorites.

On the other hand, Tesla and BYD seem to be doing well selling sedans, but they are more established brands in the electric vehicle world. But not even state-of-the-art technology can beat the lack of attention when assembling a car, and brands are recalling famous models for repair.
