There is nothing as annoying as purchasing a car and realising that it has been recalled because of faults that can put your life at risk. About 137,00 cars in the United States have been recalled by Kia, with serious warnings such as the engines can catch fire. The (NHTSA) has flagged models from this automaker because the lives of people are now in danger.

What is causing the fire risk? The explained dangerous engine defects

The primary cause of this recall is because of the damaged engines. According to Delaware Online, it is possible that the piston oil rings were made improperly, which could harm the engine. Damage to the engine may result in a car stalling or catching fire, raising the possibility of an accident or injury. If you own these Kia car models, 2021-2023 Seltos and Soul vehicles, then you need to take action ASAP!

Kia is not the only brand scheduled for recalls

Hyundai, Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz are also having engine defects and a recall has been made. Kia and Hyundai have the same issues with engine overheating, faulty bearings and oil pump failures, which are known to cause excessive and uncomfortable friction in the engine. On the other hand, Volkswagen and BMW have reported issues related to electrical malfunctions in the fuel system, which could catch fire as well.

As much as automakers and these car brands have scheduled a recall, it is important that car owners rush to the nearest car dealership to sort out the issue before anything happens. Therefore, if you hear funny sounds or smell something like smoke or fire coming from your car, stop immediately. Whenever recalls are made, it is also advised to stop driving the vehicle immediately for the safety of you and your surroundings.

The affected vehicles that need a recall

Numerous car models, including well-known sedans, SUVs, and premium cars, are impacted by the recall. Among the concerned brands, Kia has recalled more than 70,000 automobiles, with the remaining 67,000 cars coming from Hyundai, Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz combined. The exact models differ in terms of years and production.

What you need to do is go on their websites; this can be on the official NHTSA recall website or the car brands as well, and type in your vehicle identification number (VIN). Most of these vehicles are still being driven on streets and roads in America, and just because your vehicle is not showing signs of engine defects, it is advisable you still do the check procedure because it is only a matter of time.

Note that car dealerships will inspect, fix and repair the damaged engines for free. The waiting period might be too much considering that about 137,000 car owners are affected. To emphasise the seriousness of the fire danger, some automakers are now warning owners not to keep their cars in enclosed areas like garages until repairs are finished.

What takes place next? How drivers and automakers are reacting

Recalls are nerve-racking because they place many people’s lives on hold, especially those who depend on their vehicles for daily transportation. Also, this recall is one of the biggest in the past few years, making many people ask a lot of questions in terms of manufacturing processes, quality inspection, test drives, and many more. Kia’s reputation is on the line as well.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, drivers just need to take rapid action. Ignoring a recall such as this one is just a danger to everyone. This recall, which puts over 137,000 vehicles in danger, is a clear reminder that even the most cutting-edge automakers can encounter significant manufacturing difficulties. However, at the moment, safety comes first.
