Ferrari is bringing back a famous car from 1984, but it won’t be just another vehicle that iconic brands bring back to sell with nostalgia. This beast will deliver 1,036 horsepower. While some traditional manufacturers might recreate their iconic cars with experts so that the vehicle is so exclusive that, by the time the mainstream finds out about it, the sale has already happened, Ferrari takes a more accessible approach when it comes to these types of projects. Ferrari, on the other hand, is more accessible when it comes to these types of projects, and it revealed the idea of bringing back their model that got lost in the middle of many new cars from the brand.
The new Ferrari is as iconic as the F-40
The models F-40, Enzo, Spider, and 250 GTO all served a purpose: cementing Ferrari as a legendary brand in the automotive world. Ferrari’s history goes deep, with the brand being the reason Lamborghini was created, having a dominant legacy in Formula 1, and boasting millions of fans eagerly awaiting its next move. While it doesn’t focus on volume or flashy features like big screens and media kit technologies, it prioritises the driving experience. The cars are made to be driven, not just admired from afar.
With nostalgia-based sales on the rise and many well-known automakers reviving iconic old cars, the automaker decided it was time to join in. The 1984 original pushed other brands to experiment with bolder designs, featuring more aerodynamics and curved lines. Now, it’s back with a new twist – featuring over a thousand horsepower from an advanced fuel system.
Born from a collaboration: Testarossa is back
Ferrari is bringing back the Testarossa name, and it’s doing so with a 2027 model that isn’t just a nod to the past-it’s a full-on modern supercar. The 2027 849 Testarossa replaces the SF90 in the lineup and is a hybrid model. A combination of a twin-turbo V-8 and three electric motors pushes total output to 1,036 horsepower. The first model in this series was developed in partnership with Pinninfarina.
The car will be available in both coupe and Spider forms, with the latter featuring an innovative hardtop that tames cabin winds when the top is down. Inside, the car blends luxury and performance-oriented touches, including two sport seats, a slim passenger display built into the dashboard, and a prominent round tachometer that takes centre stage in the digital cluster.
State-of-the-art engine under the hood: It will separate the two passengers
Under the skin, the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V-8 sits behind the passengers, delivering 819 hp on its own. When paired with the electric motors, the car becomes a mid-engine machine that should deliver better performance than its predecessor, the SF90, which reached 60 mph in just two seconds. It could evolve even more with this new engine coming to the industry next year. For track enthusiasts, the Assetto Fiorano version comes with a unique set of upgrades: lighter carbon fibre, a stiffer suspension, Michelin Cup2 tyres, and an exclusive rear wing. Prices start at $540,000 and can reach up to $645,000 with additional options.
Safety measures to drive the car: Features to help the driver
On the safety front, the 849 Testarossa comes equipped with automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist – making it a more accessible high-performance vehicle. The automaker backs the car with a three-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.
To provide added peace of mind, it offers a three-year unlimited-mileage warranty and a seven-year maintenance program that handles routine servicing, so owners can focus on driving their car rather than worrying about the maintenance costs. The future may also see Seat’s new powertrain on top of the market.
