A full hybrid Fiat 500 is coming, as the famous Italian manufacturer aims to return to its roots with a new model. The Fiat Cinquecento (500 in Italian) is one of the most iconic cars in history. Its small size and reliable engine made it very famous in 1957 when it first came out. As the years went by, the car was updated, and it wasn’t until the early 2000s that it started to lose traction on the market. Despite this, it remains a very popular car in Italy and other European countries. Now, it’s time to get ready for the UK deliveries.

Fiat 500 is one of the most iconic cars in history

The Fiat 500 was built in a post-war environment in Italy, where residents needed a reliable, affordable, and practical car. After the Second World War, the country experienced one of the hardest economic moments in its history, which led designer Dante Giacosa to create something that most people could afford. Not only that, but the car was also designed to be driven in small roads with almost no space to park, which led it to become an instant favourite. Now, it’s time for the new hybrid Fiat 500.

Now, after dozens of models and upgrades, the full hybrid Fiat 500 will arrive in the market. There is already the internal combustion engine and the full electric version, but the hybrid will be something the market has never seen in a car this small. While it has grown a couple of centimetres since it was created in the 1950s, it is still a small-sized car. Now, with a even more reliable engine, the UK deliveries are about to start.

Full hybrid Fiat 500 is ready to be produced

FIAT is bringing its most famous city car back to its roots. The hybrid Fiat 500 Torino is a special edition that celebrates the return of the 500 to Turin and its historic Mirafiori Assembly Plant. This is not just another model – it’s a nod to the car’s history while adding a modern hybrid twist. The Torino edition comes in two exclusive colours: Yellow Gold and Ocean Green. According to the company, the mass production will start in November – UK deliveries are coming.

Under the hood, the car keeps things simple. It has a 1.0-litre FIREFLY I3 engine with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system. This gives 65 horsepower and a 6-speed manual transmission. It’s not built for speed, but it should make city driving smoother and more efficient. As the goals to reach carbon neutrality before 2030 is spreading through the industry, brands like Fiat needs to step up and position themselves in a market that is being dominated by Asian companies with expansion projects hard to ignore.

The launching phase: Here is how much you are going to pay for it

In Europe, FIAT expects this model to appeal to people who want some electrification without going fully electric. The Torino edition starts at €18,950 (around $20,300 USD) with incentives and financing options. The full hybrid Fiat 500 will be available from under €17,000 (around $18,200 USD) when it launches in November 2025. The first deliveries are set to be made in February 2026.

First looks at the car: It happened at ‘home’

According to FIAT CEO Olivier François, the factory represents the heart of the company, and the hybrid Fiat 500 is meant to honour the brand’s origins while showcasing its commitment to innovation and Italian culture. While there are other vehicles selling more than the Cinquecento, the car will continue to have new versions because that’s how traditional carmakers work nowadays: they perfect their craft and bring something new every time, like what BYD is doing when it comes to electric cars and changing the landscape.
