The expectations about certified flying cars are getting higher, while the technology demanded by these vehicles is being improved. After more than 30 years of tests and changes, the ultimate flying car is about to be certified by the authorities. If you are waiting for this moment, be aware: it can happen any time this year, and the first units must be delivered in early 2026.  To buy the first flying car to go to market in 75 years, customers must pay the impressive amount of USD$ 1 million. Besides being the first certified flying car, this one is definitely one of a kind.

The ultimate flying car should hit the markets in early 2026

During the Living Legends of Aviation Gala Dinner in Beverly Hills last week, a company announced the beginning of the sales of the ultimate flying car. The information, confirmed by a company spokesperson, also reinforces that the vehicle is the first flying car to be released in 75 years, and it will be revolutionary.

With more than 170 flight hours and over 500 takeoffs and landings, this vehicle seems to be the perfect combination between a road-legal car and a functional aircraft. Powered by a new and unique 280-horsepower engine and with advanced aerodynamics, this model achieved the Certificate of Airworthiness. While some people say that the car of the future is this Japanese model, other says that the title belongs to the AirCar.

Developed by the Slovakia-based company Klein Vision, the AirCar was introduced for its designer, Stefan Klein, wich was also honored with the Special Recognition Award of Engineering Excellence. According to Klein, the AirCar is more than a lifelong dream and is the perfect way to transform how the world moves in terms of personal mobility.

Forget everything you know about flying cars! AirCar can do it better

During a speech, the AirCar co-founder Anton Zajac was emphatic about the reason why AirCar is at the forefront of this “mobility transformation”.

“The AirCar is a fusion of certified aviation engineering and advanced automotive design. A true dual-mode vehicle that meets rigorous standards in both air and ground performance”.

Different from everything we saw about flying cars, AirCar is one of the few models with four wheels and with a fast change between the road and air modes. According to Zajac, the driver only needs one button on the steering wheel to switch to the flying mode. With this fast-changing system, the company achieved the goal of building a dual-mode vehicle. “A sports car that really behaves like a sports car, that really looks and drives like a sports car. And in aircraft mode, that behaves exactly like an aircraft with zero compromise”, states.

A vehicle with autonomy on the road and in the sky, with a powerful and unique engine

Besides its visual, AirCar also delivers performance and a unique engine. The machine, put in production, offers three options, all 3.2-liter, 120-degree V6 motors sourced from Adeot Airmotive, a South African company. Also, while the base model offers 280 horsepower, the top-of-the-line offers a 340-horsepower twin turbo.

According to Zajac, the model also has a monocoque frame instead of a welded tube, which made it lighter and stronger than the previous version. Due to these improvements, the performance also had a considerable change, achieving 135 knots in cruising speed in the air and 124 mph on the road.

The next generation should be a three-mode vehicle

The ambitious plans for AirCar also include a next generation set to be as innovative as this one. After certifying the first flying car, Klein Vision wants to create a three-mode vehicle that would be capable of moving on water, earth, and air: an amphibious flying car. With the development of these unique models, the company also searches for a future more sustainable and with no limitations for movement. And talking about sustainability, what do you think if I told you that the quietest engine in history is also 100% clean? This company claims to have started an era of sustainable aviation.
