The ‘Great Land’ has become a popular sight for many to see, even though the majority of it is only accessible by air. It has everything from glaciers and active ice fields to being a hotspot to see the Aurora Borealis for nearly 200 days annually, and lovely, long summer days. What’s more, new stimulus checks of $1,700 will be coming in September. The official date has been confirmed for the first qualifying group. We recommend you check whether you also qualify for these checks.
This is why states are sending stimulus checks
The U.S. distributed Economic Impact Payments during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Many people were facing financial hardship, and the economy was declining rapidly as a result. The goal of these payments was to financially assist struggling citizens and stimulate the American economy.
As the pandemic came to an end, so did these payments. However, many were still struggling to recover financially, as the inflation rate continued to rise and the cost of living even more so. This is when many states decided to step in by distributing stimulus checks, also known as rebates or inflation checks, to provide continued financial support.
This coming September, a particular U.S. state will be sending checks to qualifying groups. If you meet the requirements, you could also qualify for the payments of approximately $1,700.

The Great Land, more commonly known as Alaska, established a state program in 1976. The drive behind the program was to save oil revenues rather than immediately splurging the money. The program’s funds are managed by the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation (APFC), whose investments include, but are not limited to:
- Stocks
- Bonds
- Real estate
The lifesaving program that will be paying out soon is none other than the Alaska Permanent Fund. According to Marca, the stimulus checks, or the Permanent Fund Dividends, are worth $1,702 and are made up from a base amount as well as an energy bonus. Alaskans look forward to receiving these annual payments, as they help to relieve financial burdens and boost the local economy. However, only a certain group will qualify for payments in September.
This group will qualify for the checks
It is not uncommon for state programs to have requirements that must be met to determine eligibility. To qualify for the Alaska Permanent Fund, these requirements must be met:

- You haven’t claimed residency in another state or country since December 31, 2023
- You weren’t convicted of a felony during that year, nor have you been incarcerated for multiple misdemeanors
- You haven’t left the state for more than 180 days, besides for justified reasons such as studies, health, or military service, and have spent at least 72 consecutive hours in Alaska in 2023 or 2024
- Your claim is in ‘Eligible-Unpaid’ status
Payments are distributed according to your claim status. According to the Alaska Department of Revenue, the following group will be receiving payments on September 11, 2025:
- Citizens with ‘Eligible-Unpaid’ status on September 3, 2025
More dates to look forward to:
- Claims in “Eligible-Unpaid” status on September 18, 2025, will be paid on October 2, 2025
- Claims in “Eligible-Unpaid” status on October 13, 2025, will be paid on October 23, 2025
The Alaska Department of Revenue recommends that you regularly check your status and keep your details up to date on the program’s official website. This includes confirming your address and payment before August 31, 2025, which will avoid delays in payment. State programs such as these are crucial to maintaining the well-being of residents and the local economy.
