DOGE $5,000 Stimulus Check

With July coming to a close, residents of one U.S. state have reason to be optimistic. A fresh month brings fresh payments — and for August, $1,700 stimulus checks are officially on the way. One group already has a confirmed payment date. Want to know if you’re eligible? Find out today whether you’re among those set to receive a check this August.

This state will be distributing stimulus checks

This state is known as “The Last Frontier” due to its pristine and untamed wilderness and remote backcountry. Naturally, the only state we could be referring to is none other than Alaska. The state has other advantages beyond its picturesque nature, including the fact that it is the only state in the US that will reward you for remaining a resident.

Strange, but true. Widely unheard of, but welcome nonetheless. Residents receive stimulus checks from officials through a program called the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program. The initiative was implemented in 1980, and since then, it has financially assisted citizens to cope with the economic burdens in the US.

The program not only assists residents but also aids the local economy and the state itself. The PFD program is funded by Alaska’s revenues from its resources, such as oil. Nearly 600,000 Alaskans benefit from the program, and many eagerly await the distribution of benefits every year.

Only this group of citizens will qualify for the checks

There is more to the PFD program than simply being a resident in Alaska. Only one group of citizens will qualify for the stimulus checks. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:

  • No legal history
    • You have not been convicted of a felony or have been incarcerated at any time during 2024
  • Residency
    • You have been a resident in Alaska for the entire 2024 calendar year
    • With the intent of remaining in Alaska indefinitely
  • Absence limits
    • You did not leave Alaska for more than 180 consecutive days in 2024
  • No foreign residency
    • You did not claim residency or benefits from another state or country since December 31, 2023
  • Application deadline
    • You applied for the 2024 dividend before or on March 31, 2025

All qualifying citizens will be receiving a $1,702 stimulus check from the PFD program, which comprises the following:

  • Annual dividend of $1,440
  • An energy relief bonus of $262

Your payment will be distributed according to the method you indicated as your preference on your PFD program application, i.e., either mailed paper checks or direct deposits. Two rounds of payments have already been completed for the year, with the last one set for August.

This is the confirmed payment date for August

The last group of qualifying Alaskans will be receiving the payments in August. According to the Alaska Department of Revenue payment schedule, qualifying citizens who must still receive their checks in August will receive their payments on:

  • August 21, 2025

Now, this last round of payment is only for applications that indicate “Eligible-Not Paid” status on August 13, 2025. You can track your application’s status on the Alaska Department of Revenue’s official website. According to Marca, you should take the following steps:

  • Select the “myPFD” option
  • Verify your address
  • If needed, update your address online, or
  • Complete the Change of Address Form and submit it to one of the designated offices

There is no easier way to earn some extra cash than to simply be a permanent resident of Alaska. Those who believe they qualify can apply for the next year. The applications will be open from January 1 to March 31, 2026. Other states also have federal programs that distribute stimulus checks as a form of financial relief to its residents and to help then cope with the ever-rising inflation.
