Built to haul 3,600 tons over the Wasatch Range, the world’s largest steam locomotive hides a trick inside its 133 foot frame that lets it bend through a mountain curve

Soviet engineers built a 73 meter “monster” armed with six missiles to ride the invisible force that lifts every airplane in its final feet above the runway, and that same force just became a two seat vehicle anyone can buy

They built 13,500 ton machine called “Big Muskie,” the largest ever to walk the Earth, to rip the coal out of rural Ohio, and the 10,000 acres it tore apart are now a savanna where rhinos and giraffes roam

The problems keep piling up for General Motors (GM) as the American automaker is being forced to recall more vehicles. In the past few years, GM has faced a mountain of issues as multiple cars across numerous brands have had major issues related to transmission, brake fluid indicators, and, most recently, power steering. The latest recall is across two of its most popular brands, but luckily, they have a quick fix to quell driver anxiety.

Another GM recall, what now?

GM has filed the latest in a long line of recalls. The automaker was left no choice but to file again due to manufacturing concerns related to power steering. The recall reportedly affects 934 cars.

For GM, the good news is that this recall pales in comparison to others they’ve done recently. Just this month (March 2025), the automaker had to recall over 90,000 vehicles, including Chevrolets and Cadillacs, which had 10-speed transmissions because they suffered dangerous wear and tear, which could endanger drivers.

This time around, it’s power steering problems that are affecting Chevrolet Camaros and Corvettes, as well as Cadillac CTS sedans and the Cadillac ATS. The specific issue is an electrical flow between the circuit board and the steering gear assembly. The connectivity can be lost entirely, rendering the power steering dull.

Drive to survive

GM has been impacted by everything from labour strikes to tariff knock-on effects in recent years, but luckily, their latest headache is a mild one in comparison. It’s estimated that only a small percentage of the cars that have been recalled are actually affected, and the drivers whose cars are at risk will get a message on their dashboards.

The recall message on NHTSA reads, “These vehicles may experience a loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist while driving. Loss of EPS assist may last an entire ignition cycle but may return once the vehicle is restarted. Customers may experience this condition during subsequent ignition cycles.”

Thankfully, the power steering problem has not led to any accidents or injuries as of yet. However, it’s not the type of issue that drivers should procrastinate on fixing or take lightly. According to Amaro Law Firm, steering system failures have directly caused around 2000 accidents annually.

Quick fix for Chevy & Cadillac owners

Owners of the affected car models can take their cars in to have their power steering gear assembly replaced for free. According to the automaker, the part that is causing the issue was already corrected before 2017, and the new replacements won’t cause the same issue for drivers.

For drivers who don’t want to wait for the notification or who aren’t sure if their cars are affected, GM’s recall and warranty website has a search bar in which a car owner can enter their VIN. This will let them know if their car is affected. This will help plenty in easing concerns and unnecessary paranoia.

The specific power steering issue is quite similar to a recall in 2019, which involved 26,772 Chevrolets and Cadillacs released between 2016 and 2018. The root cause of the latest recall was discovered in a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, which was quite popular and highly rated at launch. Luckily, recalls haven’t affected GM’s popularity.

While recalls of this nature affect many major car companies, including Tesla and Toyota, it will still cause migraines in the GM headquarters. The 2020s have seen the automaker putting out fire after fire (colloquially speaking, of course). To give credit where it’s due, they’ve always acted quickly and kept the customer’s safety as their number one priority.
