With the Spacevoltaics revolution making headlines, Germany has taken center stage due to the country’s interest in this space-related energy revolution. Leading this Spacevoltaics revolution in Germany is the Dcubed GmbH. Through their ARAQYS program and the ARAQYS-D3 mission, the country is looking at its first-ever solar-powered station, which will be located 342 miles above the Earth. This is one major feat for the country as it will signal a valuable shift in terms of data centers and satellites.

ARAQYS is the ecosystem of the future

The ability to gain access to space has changed significantly due to SpaceX, Rocket Lab, and other low-cost launch providers. Thanks to the many cheaper launches, data centers and direct-to-device communications have been launched.

The ARAQYS is the answer to the entire ecosystem of orbital energy systems. The offering from ARAQYS ranges from deployable arrays and Space Power Plants that can offer energy when in orbit. ARAQYS is set to reduce the cost per kilowatt. There is no need to transport heavy structures from Earth to space. ARAQYS manufactures solar systems, resulting in lighter and larger power systems.

River turbines were designed to scare fish away — Instead, rainbow trout stayed and began playing with them in ways experts didn’t expect

Two European startups are engineering wind turbine towers and blades out of wood — and major energy firms are paying attention

According to the CEO of Dcubed,  Dr. Thomas Sinn, Dcubed is set to lead the milestone of power generation in orbit.

Looking at the first power station in space

ARAQYS-D3 is a new chapter in Dcubed that will be launched on a SpaceX rideshare mission in 2027. The 2kW in space solar array will result in:

  • power beaming
  • directed-energy applications
  • high delta-v mission support from electric propulsion.

With this first power station in space, the partnership between Astro Digital and Dcubed is also rather noteworthy. The European-American partnership signals glory with Astro Digital being located miles from Dcubed’s U.S. headquarters, while Maverick Space Systems will be set to assist with launch services.

It must be remembered that production of the spacecraft will occur across Dcubed’s facilities, located in Munich, Germany, and Berthoud, and Colorado.

The road forward to ARAQYS-D1 and ARAQYS-D2

For the next year, we can look forward to two specific technologies. The ARAQYS-D1, “BOOM! THERE IT IS,” is a satellite that will manufacture a 60 cm boom in free space. The ARAQYS–D2, “WATTS NEW IN SPACE,” refers to a mission aboard Exotrail’s SpaceVan that is set to 3D-print and position a 1-meter ISM solar array.

These particular missions will show advanced manufacturing techniques to produce orbital structures, setting the core foundation of the ARAQYS-D3 ambition. The future will entail a variety of energy platforms that will be capable of powering space infrastructures.

For the future, space solar satellites will beam Earth power as futuristic energy arrives from orbit. While we have 2026 to look forward to, we can expect energy to arrive from orbit and change the renewable energy industry forever.

The ability to provide power to systems beyond Earth

Yes, Germany surely is making a push forward in terms of spacevoltaics, and the country is considering a future whereby satellites can build themselves, power themselves, and support industrial activity, even when in orbit. At the core of all of these spacevoltaics developments is Dcubed, which showcases over 1,500 flight-ready products under its belt. Dcubed is fully set on delivering affordable and unlimited energy in space.

The world can surely get ready for increased demand in orbital power and look forward to the ARAQYS-D3 vision, whereby manufacturing of energy in space and the supply of unlimited solar energy is more than just a dream. It must be remembered that an idea from 1941 has been turned into reality with an extremely powerful laser, showing what space photovoltaic energy looks. Many companies, like Dcubed, will now look at solar energy from a space station that can be found floating in the heavens.
