The engine is the heart of a vehicle. The stronger the heart, the stronger the beat. This automaker recently announced its latest hypercar from Denmark with an impressive heart. It’s the world’s most powerful engine, and even more powerful is its heartbeat. This vehicle combines incredible power and agility levels, making it a groundbreaking high-performance machine. We present the Aurora of Zenvo, whose strong beating heart will be roaring on roads much sooner than you think.
It’s the world’s most powerful hypercar and it comes from Denmark
The Danish Automaker, Zenvo Automotive, might not be a household name yet, but they have been developing a special vehicle for nearly two years. Zenvo has dubbed its exceptional project Aurora, and under its hood lies its powerful heart, a V12 engine. Compared to others, this V12 engine stands out, and we’ll tell you why.
Zenvo Automotive has confirmed that their V12 engine, named Mjølner, will produce up to 1,850 horsepower – that is 1,379 kW – making it the most powerful V12 engine ever fitted to a production road vehicle in the world. We’ve got a pretty clear picture of how Zenvo plans to reach its goal, and we will share that picture with you.
The science behind the engine’s strength
Zenvo’s powerplant is named Mjølner, after Thor’s hammer, which is most befitting. They created a powerful engine by combining four turbochargers with a hybrid system. The V12 engine alone produces up to 1,250 hp, with the full 1,850 hp figure achieved when incorporating the electric hybrid system. The engine has a 9,800 RPM redline. Emissions are kept in check by utilizing Mahle Jet Ignition technology. The turbos are proportionately small and tightly placed between the two banks of cylinders in a “hot V” configuration. The heat shielding covers much of the pumping atop the engine.
Zenvo’s main priority is to keep the vehicle’s ability to drive on roads. Even without the hybrid components, the engine produces 1,250 hp (932 kW), which should feel significantly too much to handle for most of us. But why stop at a merely “adequate” vehicle when Zenvo aspires to more? Jens Sverdrup, Chairman at Zenvo Automotive, reasons it’s all about the experience.
The experience promised by Zenvo’s Aurora
Sverdrup declared that the vital role of the Aurora program is to ensure that an emotional connection for its drivers and passengers is delivered.
“Sound and visceral drama is what Aurora will be all about, and the engine is a vital element in this, which we will turn up to 11. At Zenvo, we are a team of passionate, genuine ‘car guys’, and it is not every day that a V12 engine is born, so it is very proud moment and very exciting to finally showcase Mjølner.” – Jens Sverdrup, Chairman at Zenvo Automotive.
Sverdrup added that they never planned on embarking on the achievement of the world’s most powerful road vehicle engine, but that it resulted after they pushed what they knew was possible. Zenvo sees the achievement as an essential milestone, and its next step is to see and hear the project come to life. Zenvo announced that the first example of the hand-built unit has been completed and an extensive testing phase will get underway ahead of the first prototypes entering testing.
“It has been designed to deliver at every level, which shows the progress we continue to make.”
As far as heartbeats go, this one certainly beats strong. Not only is the engine the world’s most powerful V12 ever fitted to a production road vehicle, but it also looks like a work of art. Who knew that art could also sound beautiful? We are sure that Aurora will certainly be eliciting emotion when it arrives.
