You might have to say goodbye to your inner cowboy. A ‘Do not drive’ order was issued in the United States of America for this car model after a huge manufacturing defect was confirmed. Affected owners will not be able to roam around freely and enjoy the bucking power of their beloved car until the issue has been remedied. Fortunately, only a handful of car owners were affected by this recall. Today, we will be telling you if you were one of them and how to get it fixed.
The defect that led to the recall of this beloved car model
Ford fans and drivers received a warning after the popular automotive company issued a ‘do not drive’ order. The order followed after two cars were discovered with an essential part missing. This part is important to maintain control of the car. The car models in question had the following defects:
- A missing ball joint nut that secures the front upper control arm to the knuckle assembly, or;
- An improperly torqued ball joint nut that secures the front upper control arm to the knuckle assembly
This defect could lead to the separation of the front upper control arm from the knuckle assembly, which could result in the car experiencing partial loss of directional control without any prior warning. It inevitably leads to a high risk of a crash, which is why the Dearborn company issued the ‘do not drive’ order.
These models were affected by the defect
The warnings followed after Ford discovered this dangerous defect in one of its most rugged and popular cars, the 2025 Ford Bronco. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed that the affected Broncos had a high risk of a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration luckily found that only two models were affected and will have to be remedied as part of this campaign.
The two affected Ford Bronco models are both from the 2025 model year and were put together between January 22 and March 2, 2025. We know you might be anxious to remedy the situation, but before you start rushing to get your beloved Bronco fixed, affected owners are advised to take precautions.
This is what affected owners are advised to do
Ford advised owners not to drive their cars but to have the affected Ford Broncos towed in for service. Affected owners must also remember to schedule an appointment with an authorized dealer for the repair. The technician will examine the torque on the upper control arm ball joint fasteners and must replace the entire ball joint and knuckle assembly, regardless of whether the nut is missing or has been improperly torqued.
We realize these services performed by authorized dealerships cost a pretty penny, thankfully a reimbursement plan was put in place. This means, that if you had the defect fixed on your own, you will get your money back after providing proof of payment. The service will be performed free of charge.

Don’t worry, soon you will be able to roam freely with your Bronco again, enjoying its bucking power as you explore the rugged roads of the wild country.
