This U.S. state is known to have several large bodies of water, as it has over 3 million lakes. It is also the biggest state in the U.S., with 5% of its land being covered in glaciers. Additionally, its population is scattered, making this land the perfect place to observe the northern lights. What’s more, a cash surprise will be distributed to qualifying citizens, and qualifying citizens must check their bank accounts for payments today. Check to see if you also qualify for a payment today.

The drive behind this state’s economy

This U.S. state’s economy has a longstanding relationship with oil, and historically, it has been the state’s biggest private sector industry, resulting in significant revenue. Another key role player in the state’s economy is mining, as this state is the lead supplier of zinc in the U.S. and also a major gold producer. There is also a continued interest in the state’s critical minerals, which are essential for national security and technology.

Oil and Gas

Its major reserves of oil and gas have been a significant economic driver, with future potential at the North Slope being explored.

Minerals

Beyond gold, zinc, lead, and silver, the state also has several occurrences of rare-earth elements and other strategic minerals, which are beneficial as the global demand increases.

According to Congress.gov, the state’s oil and natural gas revenues from leases on federal onshore lands were a whopping $8,497 million in fiscal year 2023. The majority of this revenue is utilized to fund a state program, which distributes money to qualifying citizens annually. This year is no different, as over 600,000 citizens will receive a cash surprise soon.

Over 600,000 citizens will receive a cash surprise

The state we have been referring to is none other than the Great Land, also known as Alaska. Alaska has an annual program that distributes dividends to qualifying citizens. The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation manages the Alaska Permanent Fund program. To be eligible for the Alaska Permanent Fund, one must first meet certain eligibility requirements.

Eligibility requirements

  • Resided in Alaska for a full calendar year in 2024, with the intent to stay permanently
  • No felony or misdemeanor incarceration during 2024
  • Did not claim residency in another state since December 31, 2023
  • Were not absent for more than 180 days, except for allowable absences
  • Physically present in Alaska for 72 consecutive hours during 2023 or 2024

All qualifying citizens will receive a whopping $1,702 cash payout sooner than they think. The amount is made up from $1,403.83 as part of the regular contribution and a $298.17 energy relief bonus.

Qualifying citizens must check their bank accounts today

According to the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend, the Alaska Permanent Fund dividends are distributed according to an applicant’s status. If the system reflects your status as “Eligible-Not Paid,” it means that you qualify for the program and that you must still receive your payment. Thus, if your status was “Eligible-Not Paid” on September 20, then you will be paid on October 3!

Great news, as that is not the last payment date for successful applicants. Those who have the required status on October 18 will receive their payments on October 26, which is the final payment window.

For those who must still receive their dividends from the program, ensure that you confirm your application’s status by visiting the Alaska Department of Revenue’s Permanent Fund Division official website. State programs such as this one are vital not only to boost its citizens’ financial security, but also to support the local economy as it encourages citizens to spend. You can also check out this state program that will pay out stimulus checks of up to $725 to qualifying citizens.
