From corks to “Zoom-Zoom,” this automotive company has come a long way since its origin days. The company is known for pioneering the rotary engine, and now, some of us will receive a payout as part of a class action settlement. Drivers of this car brand may be eligible to claim $1,750, but only if they do so before the deadline. Find out today which car brand has been affected, and whether you also qualify for a hefty payout.

This car brand will be making some people richer

The well-known automaker that has been making headlines for the wrong reasons is none other than Mazda. This company’s cars are known for their performance, and Mazda even featured in the Fast and the Furious movies. Unfortunately, when it comes to mistakes and criticism, no one remains untouched.

The company’s cars are furnished with the Mazda Connect infotainment system. This system enables accessibility to features such as music, navigation, and phone calls, among others. Unfortunately, many drivers stated that the Mazda Connect infotainment system is defective and has numerous technical flaws. The technical flaws allegedly include:

  • System reboots
  • System freezes
  • Unresponsiveness
  • Bootloops
  • Audio and video errors

These technical flaws are extremely distracting to drivers and may affect road safety. A class action lawsuit followed promptly. Mazda denied all the allegations, but has agreed to a settlement to resolve the allegations made against its Mazda Connect infotainment system.

Only this group of drivers will be eligible

Before you count your chickens before they’ve hatched, there are only certain Mazda models that were affected by the technical flaws. Only present and former owners or lessees of the following models will be eligible to claim from the settlement:

  • Mazda2 (2016-2022)
  • Mazda3 (2014-2018)
  • Mazda6 (2016-2021)
  • Mazda CX-3 (2016-2021)
  • Mazda CX-5 (2016-2020)
  • Mazda CX-9 (2016-2020)
  • Mazda MX-5 (2016-2023)

Anyone who owned or leased one of the above Mazda models and who lives in the US or one of its territories will be deemed eligible. Perhaps if the company were less focused on replacing its rotary engine and more on technical features, it would not have had a problem. Who knows? Anyway, the class members can expect some proper reimbursement.

This is what class members can expect

  • A 24-month limited warranty extension
    • Covers software updates, repairs, and connectivity master unit replacements
  • Out-of-pocket losses
    • Including software updates, repairs, or replacement of the connectivity master unit
    • Reimbursement up to $1,750

Make sure you file your claim by the deadline

According to ClassAction.org, if you are still uncertain whether your Mazda model is covered, you can search the settlement website’s VIN lookup page. All claims can be filed either online or by downloading a PDF form and sending it by mail to the Settlement Administrator. All claim forms must be filed by the deadline of August 1, 2025. If you miss the deadline, you will not be eligible for a payout from the settlement.

Class members should note that valid documentation must be provided as proof for out-of-pocket losses. This documentation will be required to file a valid claim, and it includes:

  • An original invoice, or
  • A legible photocopy of the original invoice, or
  • Other records, such as third-party receipts, invoices, repair orders, or bills

The official payout date has not been confirmed and is dependent on the outcome of the final approval hearing of the Mazda Connect infotainment settlement. The final approval hearing is scheduled for July 28, 2025. As you await the outcome of the hearing, have a look at other class action lawsuit settlements to see if you potentially qualify for other reimbursements. For more information about this settlement, you can visit Top Class Actions and get informed about how to file a claim.

Disclaimer: You should not submit false or inflated claims under penalty of perjury, as class‑action claim forms historically required declarations signed “under penalty of perjury” to ensure authenticity. Submitting a fraudulent claim not only carries legal exposure—including potential civil and criminal sanctions—but also harms other eligible class members by diluting the available settlement pool.
