The advances made by the automotive industry are surprising the enthusiasts. Behind the recent revolution of electric cars, the limits for new engines are completely open, and we are about to experience something that we have never seen before. After years of development, this company is about to release an engine that fuses hydrogen and electricity in the same car. The model, unveiled years ago, is about to be put on the pre-order stage, and promises to be a game-changer for the world of electric cars.

Hydrogen and electricity were fused in the same engine

When we talk about hybrid cars, almost immediately we think about innovation and technology. This automotive start-up took it seriously and spent years working on a challenging project that could change the future of hybrid cars.

With its innovative technology, this engine fuses hydrogen and electricity to break the mold of a traditional electric vehicle. Now, we are about to see this creation on the road, and the pre-order has already started.

Meet Energy, Revo Zero’s hydrogen SUV that is about to be on the road

Designed by Revo Zero, a Virginia-based start-up, the SUV, named Energy, combines hydrogen and electricity. Compared to other plug-in hybrids, the vehicle uses hydrogen as a backup power for the onboard battery. Other vehicles normally use a fossil fuel-powered internal combustion engine as a way to supply the onboard battery in case of necessity.

With a modern design that flows between a traditional SUV and a minivan, this vehicle was considered the ideal car for short and long-distance trips. The Energy can use hydrogen through the integrated pFC unit that houses the fuel cell and battery, and if its efficiency is proven, it can even overcome this engine that is known as “the engine of the future”.

How is Energy able to run with electric and hydrogen power?

According to some sources, the capability to combine hydrogen and electricity is due to the innovative pFC Technology applied to the Energy engine. This technology puts together a plug-in fuel cell with a battery and hydrogen tanks. Thanks to that, the pFC module combines the best of each technology to improve its function. The battery is the primary power source, while the hydrogen gives power to extend the car’s range.

Also, this new technology allows for fast refuelling and extended range, reaching up to 700 miles. Dan Levine, strategic advisor to the REVO ZERO board, described Energy as the longest-range zero-emission vehicle currently on the market. Besides the announcement and the development of the related technologies, we still do not have a date for Energy to be on the road. Some specialists confirmed that the vehicle still needs some tests and improvements before being released, but it does not prevent Revo Zero from starting the pre-order for its game-changer vehicle.

For those who want to order this hybrid SUV, the start deposit is available for USD$ 500 through the company’s website, and it is fully refundable in case of desistance.

They are still improving the engine before the release

While enthusiasts are waiting for the official release of Energy, the company keeps improving its engine and performing safety tests. As said on its official website, Energy is currently in development and will be launched once the safety testing is completed. The fact is that the simple announcement about Energy’s revolutionary engine was capable of creating a commotion in the automotive industry, which constantly claims technological solutions that can overcome the previous limits. And talking about innovation, Ferrari’s new engine is proof that there is no limit to technology once it is powered by a strange fuel.
