Ford recall

The Ford Motor Company has been around since 1903 and has a rich heritage of rugged and reliable vehicles with bold and stylish designs. Many loyal customers have shown their support throughout the years due to their positive experiences. They may always have been at the forefront of technology and engineering, but nothing or nobody is perfect. They say where there is smoke, there is fire. In Ford’s case, this should be taken literally. The company recently recalled thousands of trucks and SUVs, and your model could be one of those affected.

This is why Ford has recalled thousands of trucks and SUVs

Many loyal customers will not be too happy to hear that their Ford model is under recall. The company announced that many trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) from model years 2024 and 2025 have been manufactured with misaligned engine cup plugs. The engine cup plugs are situated at the side or rear of the engine.

According to Ford, the hydraulic insertion press used to place the engine cup plugs was misaligned. Unfortunately, this led to the mangled engine cup plugs and the limitation of interface retention to the cylinder head bore. This event might result in a swift oil leak, which may cause the engine to lose power and eventually seize. It also significantly increases the risk of an underhood fire.

This recall is certainly a major inconvenience, and with so many people who already dislike Ford, the incident will not be helping the cause. We advise you to find out if your Ford model is one of the thousands affected as soon as possible.

The list of models that are affected by the recall

The company’s Critical Concern Review Group underwent an investigation on February 6 after a warranty report was made for a vehicle with a cup plug shifted from the right cylinder head. Their investigation concluded that the Cleveland Engine Plant used a misaligned hydraulic insertion press between September 9, 2024, and October 6, 2024.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the potential number of vehicles affected is 4,163. The following trucks and utilities optioned with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine could be affected by misaligned engine cup plugs and are under recall:

  • FORD/EXPEDITION/2024-2025
  • FORD/F-150/2024-2025
  • LINCOLN/NAVIGATOR/2024

It is a shame that the company favorite is among those affected, but it is better to be safe than sorry!

What you should do if your vehicle is affected

If you own any of the aforementioned vehicle models, your vehicle will immediately give a warning if it detects an oil leak. The vehicle’s low oil pressure warning light would immediately come on in the instrument cluster in the event of an engine oil leak. Drivers should always be wary to avoid potential accidents, injury, or death.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that affected owners will be informed via notification letters. The letters are expected to be mailed on May 26, 2025. If you suspect your vehicle is faulty before receiving a notification, visit your nearest dealer as soon as possible for inspection by a professional. The technicians will inspect the engine cup plug alignment and replace the plug if necessary, free of charge. The number for the recall is 25S30.

With Ford having faced numerous recalls in previous years, we hope the motor company manages to do some quick damage control to maintain their customer loyalty base. Besides being completely inconvenient, it also raises concerns about overall quality and reliability. If you remain uncertain and wary, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171).
